成聖的進展
Progress of Sanctification
Sanctification and justification are
distinguishable but inseparable.
Need for justification = guilt of
sinner.
我們需要成聖，因為我們需要從罪的污染中不斷的被潔淨。
Need
for sanctification = continuing cleansing from pollution.
Justification = forensic act.
成聖 = 上帝一系列的工作（是上帝的工作）。
Sanctification
= series of acts (= work of God).
Justification = the same for all
believers.
成聖 = 有不同的程度，不同的進展。
Sanctification
= different in degrees of advancement.
Justification has to do with our
legal status before God.
成聖 = 關乎我們道德上的地位（我們的心裏 / 生命的真相）。
Sanctification
has to do with our moral status.
Justification = Christ’s
righteousness is imputed to us.
成聖﹕在我們裏面作成基督的模樣。
Sanctification
= Christ’s pattern is wrought in us.
Justification gives us the title,
the right to eternal life.
成聖﹕準備我們享受永生﹕使我們效法基督的樣式。
Sanctification
prepares us to enjoy that life in conforming us to the image of Christ.
信心﹕信靠那位能使人復活的上帝。
Faith is faith in God who is able to
raise the dead.
因此﹕信心 = 信靠復活的主基督。
Therefore: Faith is faith in the
resurrected Christ.
基督的復活
-> 基督為主。
Resurrection
-> Lordship of Christ
因此﹕使我們稱義的信心 = 同時相信基督是主。
Therefore:
Faith in justification is at the same time to confess his Lordship.
因此﹕稱義和成聖不可分開。
Therefore:
Sanctification and justification are inseparable.
稱義和成聖不可分開，好像﹕
Justification/sanctification
inseparable: parallel to how:
信心和悔改不可分開。
Faith
and repentance are inseparable.
這些都是上帝所賜，在基督裏的福分（恩典）。
Benefits of Christ given by God:
這些都是聖靈的工作。
These
are works of the Holy Spirit.
聖靈在我們裏面作成我們的回應。
Response
= evoked in us.
這不可分開的關係，是適宜的，是對稱的。
There
is congruity and appropriateness in this inseparable link.
上帝賜給我們得救的確據，一部份是透過隨從聖靈。
Assurance
of faith is given in part by following the Spirit.
約壹3﹕22
並且我們一切所祈求的，就從祂得著。因為我們遵守祂的命令，行祂所喜悅的事。
I John 3:22
and
whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do
the things that are pleasing in His sight.
Sanctification is a process of
mortification and vivification.
與基督同死，與基督同復活。
Dying
and rising with Christ.
羅6﹕6
因為知道我們的舊人，和祂同釘十字架，使罪身滅絕，叫我們不再作罪的奴僕。
Rom.
6:6
knowing
this, that our old self was crucified with {Him,} in order that our body of sin
might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin;
-- 舊人已經死了（不是﹕正在死的過程中）。
-- Old
man is dead (not dying)
-- 新人活著。
-- New
man lives
-- 舊人不是與新人同時存在。
-- Old
man not simultaneous with new man.
-- 這就是為什麼我們行為有改變！
-- This
accounts for the change in behavior.
-- 治死罪，不只是改善我們的生活行為。
-- Mortification
is not just reforming our behavior.
-- 恨惡罪，愛慕上帝 = 我們的動機（原動力），不只是懼怕犯罪的後果。
-- Hatred
of sin, love of God = motivation, not just fear for consequences of sin.
西3﹕3
因為你們已經死了，你們的生命與基督一同藏在上帝裏面。

For
you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
西3﹕5
所以你們要治死你們在地上的肢體。就如淫念，污穢，邪清，惡慾，和貪婪，貪婪就與拜偶像一樣。

Therefore
consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity,
passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry.
--新人在認識上帝的話的知識上長進。
-- New
man grows in the knowledge of the Word of God.
-- 新人會有敏感，我們什麼時候偏離義的準則（上帝的話）。
-- New
man grows in sensitivity to departure from standard of righteousness.
-- 這不是律法主義。律法主義是靠行為，靠順服的（假）救法。
-- NOT
legalism. Legalism has to do with a
way of salvation.
-- 謹守律法，並不能救我們！
-- Law-keeping
does not save us!
-- 可是，謹守律法的確是我們生活的樣式﹕是一個被改造的人的特征﹕因為
基督活在他裏面。
-- But
it is a way of living: characteristic of redeemed man – in whom Christ
lives.
律法主義（很多基督心理的意識）﹕
LEGALISM
(average consciousness):
你極差勁！要往上；加油！
You
are at the bottom: try harder.
保羅的說法是﹕你是冠軍！為什麼要掉下來？
PAUL:
You are at the top; why fall away?
The criterion for sanctification is
the Law of God (Word of God).
這是基督掌權的杖﹕表達上帝在基督裏的聖潔。
This
is the scepter of Christ: expression of holiness of God in Christ.
羅6﹕17
感謝上帝，因為你們從前雖然作罪的奴僕，現今卻從心裏順服了所傳給你們道理的模範。
Rom. 6:17
But
thanks be to God that though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from
the heart to that form of teaching to which you were committed,
Over against: 相反﹕
-- 遺漏作上帝所要求的；作了過於上帝所要求的。
-- Omitting what God requires, doing
more than what God requires.
-- 聖經不是消極的﹕ 不是要束縛我們。
-- Scriptures is not negative: not a binding legal document.
-- 聖經是積極的﹕教導我們如何生活的憲章。

It is positive:
a charter for LIVING.

律法 = 準則，基督按照律法的要求為我們的罪死。

Law = standard in terms
of which Christ died for our sin.

因此﹕接受（ 承認）基督為我們的救主 = 自願服在律法的要求之下。
-- Therefore: To claim Christ as Savior
= to bind ourselves to the Law implicitly.
The means of sanctification are the
means of grace.
Sacraments
– function of sacraments is analogous to that of the Word.
來12﹕2
仰望為我們信心創始成終的耶穌，祂因那擺在前面的喜樂，就輕看羞辱，忍受了十字架的苦難，便坐在上帝寶座的右邊。
Hebrews
12:2
fixing
our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set
before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the
right hand of the throne of God.
-- 不好好利用恩具﹕使我們沒有力量。
-- Failure
to use them = debilitating.
-- 我們需用每一途徑來到上帝面前；仰望基督！
Use
every means for access to God – look to Christ!
Discipline sanctifies.
來12﹕6
因為主所愛的祂必管教，又鞭打凡所收納的兒子。
Hebrews
12:6
“FOR
THOSE WHOM THE LORD LOVES HE DISCIPLINES, AND HE SCOURGES EVERY SON WHOM HE
RECEIVES.”
-- 上帝直接的管教。

God does it directly.
林前5﹕5
要把這樣的人交給撒但，敗壞他的肉體，使他的靈魂在主耶穌的日子可以得救。
I
Cor. 5:5
{I
have decided} to deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of his flesh,
so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.
-- 上帝也間接地，透過教會施行管教。

God also does it indirectly through the church.
上帝的話，聖禮，管教﹕這是教會的三樣標記（宗教改革眾領袖）。
Word,
sacraments, discipline: these are the Reformation marks of the church.
教會就是被成聖者的團契（聖徒的相通）。
The
church is the company of those who are sanctified (communion of saints).
成聖過程中，不可忽略團契生活（聚會）。
Don’t
overlook communion in sanctification.

24 又要彼此相顧，激發愛心，勉勵行善。
25 你們不可停止聚會，好像那些停止慣了的人，倒要彼此勸勉，既知道那日子臨近，就更當如此。

and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds,

not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but
encouraging {one another;} and all the more as you see the day drawing near.

彼此激勵，相愛，行善。
-- Provoke
one another to love and good works.
-- 我們不可以孤立地成聖。
-- We
are not sanctified in isolation from one another.
-- 基督拯救祂的教會；整個教會。
-- Christ
saved His Church.
Sanctification is both a privilege
and a duty.
結36﹕27
我必將我的靈，放在你們裏面，使你們順從我的律例，謹守遵行我的典章。
Ezekiel 36:27
“I
will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you
will be careful to observe My ordinances.”
-- 成聖是上帝的工作。
-- It is a work of God.
-- 成聖是權利﹕不只是因為上帝親自使我們成聖。乃是﹕在與罪的爭戰有進步，越加享受基督的平安。
-- Privilege
= not only that God sanctifies, but progressive cessation of hostilities,
increasing enjoyment of peace of Christ.
詩119﹕165
愛你律法的人，有大平安。什麼都不能使他們絆腳。
Psalm 119:165
Those who love
Your law have great peace, And nothing causes them to stumble.
-- 我們的義務﹕Duty:
腓2﹕12
這樣看來，我親愛的弟兄，你們既是常順服的，不但我在你們那裏，就是我如今不在你們那裏，更是順服的，就當恐懼戰兢，作成你們得救的工夫。
Phil. 2:12
So
then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only,
but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and
trembling;

要戰戰兢兢的作成得救的功夫。
-- Work out your salvation in fear and
trembling.
林後7﹕1
親愛的弟兄們，我們既有這等應許，就當潔淨自己，除去身體靈魂一切的污穢，敬畏上帝，得以成聖。
II Cor. 7:1
Therefore,
having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of
flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
-- 不靠我們自己裏面的力量。潔淨是恩具，所以必需靠上帝的恩典。
-- Not
by our own resources. Cleansing is
in means of grace, i.e. dependent on the grace of God.
